Welcome to Class 1

We are the Monkeys

Welcome to our class page. Our teacher is Miss Calvert and our teaching assistant is Mrs Stratford. Our PE day is normally Thursday but sometimes it does change so please bring your PE kit to school on Monday and leave it here all week. It is very important the children’s PE kits and school clothes, especially jumpers, are clearly labelled with their names so that if they do start walking we can quickly return them to their rightful owner!

We had so much fun learning all about weddings and loved looking at all of our parents and grandparents wedding pictures of memorabilia. This inspired us to perform our own wedding. Although we had a small hitch and forgot the rings, the wedding was a great success and we had lots of wedding pictures of our own to show! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and family members for supporting our wedding celebration, we had not anticipated such a huge response, and your presence made it so much more memorable for the children.

We were very busy leading up to Christmas. We were very hard to learn all of our songs and lines for our Wriggly Nativity Christmas production. We think everyone will agree it was a fantastic performance and the children were brilliant!

We have worked hard all year to earn tokens for our Christmas party, and it was very well deserved. We had great fun playing Christmas party games and eating party food. It was a lovely way to get into the Christmas spirit!

Next term is just as busy as the last. We will be learning all about Books and Authors, and in particular Michael Rosen, Eric Carle and Rod Campbell. We will be doing a lot of art work based around the familiar stories ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’ and ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We will also be writing and making our own versions of other favourite books, such as ‘Dear Zoo’ and ‘The Gruffalo’. We are hoping to do another WOW event due to the popularity of our Wedding WOW event so please watch this space! We will inform you nearer the time of the date and location.

If you have any questions please feel free to pop in and ask. We love the chance to show off our fantastic work!
