Hello! We’re Class 12 and our teacher is the fabulous Miss Evans! We are a Year 6 class and we can’t believe that we are now the oldest
children in the school! In our class we have the one and only magnificent Mrs Rowe (an ICT whiz!) supporting and encouraging our learning!
This half term we have continued our topic on World War II and in particular we have been studying the life of Anne Frank with some
fantastic volunteer helpers that are studying History at Nottingham Trent University. In our Literacy work, we have been studying
the story of the children’s classic Goodnight Mister Tom by Michelle Magorian. This follows the story of a young boy called William
Beech who is evacuated. We have used the film as a stimulus for writing descriptive narrative. Why not read an example of some of the work.
You will need Microsoft Publisher.

We also enjoyed writing our own newspaper articles about VE Day using Publisher – have a look for yourself!

In ICT we have continued to work on our video and animation project. We have used Windows MovieMaker to make our very own news videos.
We worked in groups to write the scripts, film and then edit them.
In P.E. we have enjoyed doing athletics, in particular practising throwing the vortex howlers – watch out for the forthcoming athletics
competitions! Also, many of the children from class took part in the Tag Rugby tournament at Nottingham Trent University which we
managed to win, therefore we will be competing at another event at Meadow Lane.
We are looking forward to the summer term when we will be working hard in preparation for our Key Stage 2 SATS Tests which are
scheduled for the week commencing Monday 14th May. The children will be working hard over the forthcoming weeks in preparation
for their Key Stage 2 SATS, if you would like any further support with this, please feel free to come in to class.
There will be a breakfast club for the children in Year 6 during this week. Details to follow.
Please ensure that your child has their P.E. kit in school every day of the week. Our scheduled P.E. session will be
on Tuesday afternoons and we will be doing CRICKET.
All children are expected to read every night and complete their reading journal. Homework will be given out on Fridays and
expected to be returned the following Friday.
