Welcome to Class 3

Updated 22 December 2011

This half term Class 3 got ready for their first class assembly. They retold the story of Mr Gumpy’s Outing. The children showed their paintings of the setting and characters from the story and sang songs. We also showed videos we had taken of children retelling the story.

Our topic this half term was ‘Festivals’. Children enjoyed finding out about the Jewish religion. They learnt that Jewish people believe in one God. They also found out about the importance of the Torah and a Synagogue. They then used all of this information to create a non-fiction book. We also found out about Christianity and were able to discuss many similarities and differences between Christianity and Judaism.

The children thoroughly enjoyed learning this year’s Christmas Nativity. We quickly learnt all the fun songs and enjoyed making up dances to go with the songs. We had great fun getting into our costumes and performing to all the guests who came to watch our many performances. We hope you enjoyed the show!

We also had time to take a quick break from all the rehearsals to go ice-skating. This was a trip thoroughly enjoyed by all (adults and children). See the events page for further information about this trip.

The topic we will be covering next half term is ‘Florence Nightingale’. Look out for letters containing further information.
