Welcome to Class 4

Updated 23 December 2011

Hello everyone! We are Class 4, also sometimes known as the Giraffes Class. We are in Year 2.

Mrs West is our teacher and Mrs Cutts works in our class every morning. Mr Meadows works in our class on a Wednesday afternoon. This term we are really lucky to have Mrs Horsburgh and Mr Iredale working in our class. They are PGCE students from Nottingham Trent University.

Last term we really enjoyed finding out all about Judaism. We found out that Jews worship in a synagogue and their holy book is called a Torah. We held our own Shabbat in class. Jews celebrate the Shabbat every Friday when they eat a special meal and have a special restful time with their family. They eat challah, sweet bread, and drink wine (we had grape juice!).

We were also practising hard for our Christmas Nativity which was a great success! The children all looked great in their costumes and did a good job performing for their parents.

We celebrated the end of last term by going ice skating at the National Ice Arena. Some children were a little bit apprehensive to start off with but by the end they were flying round on the ice!

Our reading diaries have continued to develop over the last half term and Mrs West and Mrs Cutts are really proud of the children for what they are writing every night. Keep up the fantastic work Class 4!

In January our topic is going to be Florence Nightingale. We will be finding out who she was and why she was an important lady.
