Welcome to Class 6

Updated 23 December 2011

Hello and welcome to Class 6! Our teacher is Miss Richardson. Mrs Butler, Mrs Hickling and Mrs Vaughan also help us in our class.

Here’s some information you might find useful. We are given homework every Monday which we return to school the following Monday. We have also been given Education City and Times Too passes which means we can even do our homework online! Class 6 are expected to read every night and to write in our reading diary. Every week, in class, we have a spelling test. We also have weekly mental maths tests. All these things help us to make progress in our school work!

Class 6 have PE on a Tuesday morning. We also go ice skating every Monday morning at the National Ice Centre.

This half term has been extremely busy. Not only have we been working really hard to improve our writing and maths ability, but we have taken part in lots of special events and activities.

We held an Aboriginal WOW event for our parents where we performed to them and showed the work we had produced. Look on the events page to see the photos!

Students from Nottingham Trent University coached us in our PE lessons, helping us prepare for a Pentathlon athletic event. Twenty children have been selected to take part in the competition which will take place in January. We will put some pictures up in our next update!

This next half term is going to be just as eventful. We will be studying adventure stories and looking at the Flat Stanley stories. In Maths, we will be learning about data handling, drawing graphs, venn diagrams and carroll diagrams.

In our topic lessons, we will be learning about Robin Hood and the history the stories linked to him. We will also be using our sewing skills to make money pouches for Robin Hood and his Merry Men!
