Hello and welcome to Class 7! Our teachers are Mrs Fallon (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Haslam (Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday) We are also helped and supported by Miss Wheat, our teaching assistant.
Here’s some information you might find useful. We are given homework every Tuesday which we return to
school the following Monday. Class 7 are expected to read every night and to write in our reading diary.
Every week, in class, we learn spelling rules, have a times table test and a mental maths tests. All these
things help us to make progress!
We must keep our PE kits in school every day as we have outdoor and indoor P.E. Swimming will start again straight
after the Christmas holidays on Thursday afternoons. It will run for five weeks from 12th January to 9th February.
Children will need swimming costumes and towels.
Year 4 children have violin lessons on Wednesdays. We plan to learn through the environment in our gardening
sessions on Wednesday afternoons and welcome adult helpers.
In Class 7 we aim to try our best and make progress. We try to take responsibility for our own learning and want to enjoy success!
Last half term we had fun exploring Aboriginal Art, Music and Stories.
We studied Aboriginal symbols in Art and used a dotting method to create our own Art work.

We tried paint and chalk

It takes concentration!
Our finished art work looked wonderful!

We took a lot of care!

We thought about the colours

How does the art work make you feel?
We also tried creating Aboriginal Art on the computer.
Can you spot animals and symbols in our work?
As part of the Aboriginal wow event we performed our own class Aboriginal music using percussion
instruments and clapping out beats.
In Literacy we explored Aboriginal stories, retold them using exciting vocabulary and even invented our own, such as, ‘Why snakes hiss’!
You should read them!
As part of our control and monitoring I.C.T. topic we created squares, triangles and hexagons using Roamer World. We also explored the repeat
command, brackets and using different coloured pens. Fantastic!
For the first half of the Spring term we will be starting our Robin Hood Topic. We will be designing and making a money container for Robin Hood, exploring the legend of Robin Hood and
considering different types of historical evidence. We can’t wait!
We will continue to progress with our Numeracy and writing targets and our reading diaries.
A maths game to try
