Music at Milford
Our music provision is continuing to develop.
All children in Year 4 have the opportunity to learn the violin,
viola or the cello. They can also join the Clifton Band with other
children from local schools. The band meets to practise after school
on Mondays at Milford. Last year, some of our children went to the
concert hall to play with the Halle Orchestra, and they also had a
fun day at Nottingham University in the Summer combining outdoor
activities with musical experiences, whilst developing their instrumental skills.

Cello lessons
Strings lessons are available to children in years 5 and 6 who wish to
carry on, and we have a guitar teacher coming into school. Lessons can
be booked termly at the school office.
Miss Hardy runs our talented school choir for children in Key Stage 2
on Tuesday mornings. They are looking forward to Carol Singing in nearby
Sheltered Accommodation at Christmas, and maybe some other venues.

Choir in rehearsal
Our school has started following some of the national SingUp programme,
and many classes are having great fun learning these songs.
At class and key stage level, our music is often performed in assemblies,
and for parents and families at several times during the year at larger
performances. The first of these will be nativity musicals by younger
children, and a Christmas concert by the older children in school.
Please check dates and times with your child’s teacher nearer the time.
