Welcome to Nursery

Updated 23 December 2011

Hello, welcome to Milford Nursery. Mrs Simons is our teacher. Mrs Dickinson, Miss Faulks, Mrs Aspinall, Mrs Litchfield, Mrs Hickling and Miss Knowles all work in our nursery and we would like to welcome Miss Fell, who is joining our team this January.

Milford Nursery is a very busy nursery and we enjoy various exciting activities, both in nursery and out on visits.

We are looking forward to welcoming all our new children this term, many of whom have been attending our GReaT group since September.

“GReaT” stands for “Getting Ready Together” and is a 10 week course, running for the term before a child starts nursery at 3 years old. The children are getting ready for nursery, together with a parent or carer, and they come to nursery on Tuesday afternoons to stay on their own. On Thursday afternoons their adult joins all the other parents and carers for drinks and chats about what the children will be doing at nursery before joining up with the children for a fun activity and a story or song time.

We have had lots of creative fun in the second half of the Autumn term. We celebrated lots of different festivals, looking at similarities and differences between them. One common feature is food, and we really enjoyed tasting very different food associated with celebrating different events.

As well as tasting different food we listened to stories, made decorations and cards, listened to music and danced. Our parents even stayed to play and made firework models with us for Bonfire Night!

The end of the term was very busy with Christmas Celebrations. The staff were so proud of all the children in our Nativity Play, which they performed to parents and to the rest of the school. Everyone enjoyed the Christmas Party, which we shared with our friends the Bears and Monkeys in Reception.
